Our Program


Serendipity is...

Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of adults with cognitive and functional impairments. Respectful of the dignity of our participants, providing them care and compassion. Committed to the independence and well-being of older persons, and predictable respite for caregivers.

Serendipity’s focused services and activities are based on the needs, strengths, and interests of our clients:

Social Activities

Planned discussion groups, music, singing, devotional, reading and writing programs. 

Therapeutic Activities

Daily exercise/walking, art, physical and mental games, sewing, knitting, cooking, crafts.

Personal Care Services

Assistance with eating, hygiene, toileting and transferring, and agency referrals, as needed. 

Health-related Services

Health assessments/monitoring by an R.N. who assists with medication administration, and collaborates with family and other health professionals on needed care.

Nutritional Services

Freshly cooked meals and snacks, tailored to meet individual nutritional needs. 
 

Payment Options

Home and Community Based Waivers, Long-term Care Insurance, Private Pay with possible financial discounts based on income as well as Grant-funded services and Scholarship program for eligible candidates.


Serendipity actively seeks and participates in studies to enhance our understanding and the impact adult day services have on those with dementia and their families. We have participated in research with UAA’s Center for Behavioral Health Research & Services and the School of Social Work. and the School of Social Work.

Two programs from research have been integrated into daily activities:

Enhanced Mobility - a combination of walking, core strength, and balance exercises, and Java strength and balance exercises.

Java Music Club - a peer support group that uses music and conversation to increase music and conversation to increase well-being and improve coping skills being and improve coping skills being and improve coping skills.
